Quelques questions à James Mirtle

En marge de son transfert vers d’autres cieux électroniques, nous en avons profité pour poser quelques questions (dans un anglais approximatif) au roi du blog, James Mirtle.

Quelques leçon à retenir.

SFC: When you read a new (independent) blog, what are you looking for? What’s at stake? Credibility?James Mirtle (JM):A few things make a blog a good read. I’m looking for (a) a different perspective, (b) someone who is plugged in to the blogosphere and (c) an attention to detail that includes being well written and well thought out. I also like to find new sources or articles, so someone who’s a good digger for information makes a good blogger, too.

SFC:In a world (the internet) stuffed with opinions and irrelevant comments, do you think there is too much people blogging?JM: I think the cream rises to the top. There are only so many people reading these sites, so only the best of the best are going to be well trafficked and gain prominence.  And you can’t fault everyone for trying giving how the phenomenon is taking off.

What’s your perception of French media from Montreal? Do you know/read some of them?JM:I’m originally from Kamloops, B.C., and the French they teach in high schools out west isn’t all that, uh, good. I know a little bit but not enough to read entire articles without a translator.

SFC: Yvon Pedneault or Bob Mckenzie?JM: Bob. We don’t get a lot of exposure to Yvon here in Toronto, but I did catch his work on Hockey Night in Canada during Saturday’s game against Phoenix, and he really struggled as an analyst. The language barrier holds him back.

SFC: Have you ever had a Montréal smoked meat?
JM: Yes!  I’ve only been to Montreal twice but Schwartz’s was one of the must-see stops.
